Lana Del Rey releases her new single ‘Born to Die’ this Sunday, a Remix EP will also be released, including mixes from Damon Albarn, Woodkid and Clams Casino. The track comes alongside an incredible video, conceived by Lana and directed by Yoann Lemoine, which has amassed almost 12million views on youtube.
‘Born To Die’ follows Lana Del Rey’s first single ‘Video Games’ which has a phenomenal 20million views on youtube since Lana’s self-made video started its life online in July. Having already been awarded by Q Magazine as the ‘Best New Thing’ at the Q awards towards the end of last year, last week saw Lana Del Rey nominated for the coveted ‘International Breakthrough Artist’ award at the Brits ahead of her debut album release, also titled ‘Born To Die’, on Monday 30th January!

New album RETURN TO PARADISE
Following the huge global success his Grammy nominated hit ‘Black and Gold’ Sam returns to the fore with a brand new album. ‘Return To Paradise’ captures Sam’s electro soul sound and features a wide range of musicians from all over the world. Production credits on most of the tracks go to long time Sparro collaborator Jesse “Golden Touch” Rogg and Sam himself. Other Producers include Grammy Producer of the Year Nominee, Greg Kurstin, Jono Sloan (Empire of the Sun), Tim Anderson (Ima Robot) and Lester Mendez. Players on the record include Jamiroquai founding bass player, Stuart Zender, Violinist Caitlin Moe, The Horn Section from Hercules and Love Affair and Midnight Magic, Charlie Wilcocks, Dave Wilder, Felix Bloxsom and Sam’s own brother and father on guitars.
Sam also worked with Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Florence and the Machine’s Isabella Summers and Swedish singer/songwriter Erik Hassle on some of the song writing.
The results are an eclectic collection of songs about love lost and the quest for happiness. Stylistically, there are songs that range from 80′s electro soul and disco dance floor fillers to beautiful ballads.
What does Sam have to say about his new record? “I’m so proud of these songs and can’t wait to share them. It’s been a long time coming.”
‘Return To Paradise’ will be released through EMI in May.

Swedish born, London based singer, EJ, is about to storm onto the internet with her debut single Mama, I’m Gonna Sing. This punchy, semi acapella, track may only be just short of 2 minutes but it packs a punch. EJ’s soulful vocals power through the stripped back military drum loop and embed the melody in your head.
With simple back drops and a minimalist finish all the focus is left on EJ and her army of duplicates. With the numbers increasing the video culminates in EJ’s army marching to her every beat.
The single has already been played by DJs accros BBC 1Xtra, Kiss and Radio 1, along with remixes from some of the hottest names like Jamie Jones, Pete Tong andSavage Skulls. Expect to be blown away from her future anthems ‘Bangers & Mash’ and ‘Supersize’ coming in 2012.

The song originally premiered on January 5th on KROQ to high praise and MTV Buzzworthy said “I Come Alive,” “has plenty of The Used touchstones for fans, from dynamics to the impassioned screams, plus there’s a dash more melodic hook alongside the off-kilter arrangements.”
With almost 3 Million albums sold worldwide, the band continues to create music that they stand behind 100%. ”I Come Alive was the first song completed once we began writing this album. It sets up the record really well and I like how diverse and theatrical it is”, says front man Bert McCracken.

SILVERSTEIN RELEASES TRACKLISTING
For 22-track Short Songs Project
When Hopeless recording artists SILVERSTEIN announced the release of SHORT SONGS, the 22-track follow-up to their critically-acclaimed album RESCUE, they were still in the process of choosing which original songs they would includes and which classic punk songs they would cover. With each song clocking in at 90 seconds or less, the appropriately-titled Short Songs is divided into two halves: 11 originals and 11 covers from such seminal bands as Dead Kennedys, Orchid, Gorilla Biscuits, The Promise Ring, NOFX, Green Day and more. “Just with every album we produce, we’re always thinking of the ‘sides’ of a record,” explains drummer Paul Kohler. “In this example, Side A will be the originals, and Side B will be the covers. Each can be listened to as a contained unit, or you can easily play through just as on CD or in youriTunes.”

Produced by Jordan Valeriote who produced Silverstein’s previous releases Rescue and the Transitions EP, the band challenged themselves by thinking of music in a different way. Instead of constructing songs in the standard “three minute plus” format, they cut each song’s time in half and told a story in a compact fashion. “We had some difficulties learning exactly how these songs were played and adapting them to our own abilities (ex. our Orchid cover “Destination: Blood”). Part of this made it a better challenge and definitely opened us up to a lot more playing styles.” The title track “Short Songs” (originally performed by The Dead Kennedys) features guest vocals from Tim McIlrath (Rise Against), Chris #2 (Anti-Flag), Scott Wade (ex-Comeback Kid), Chris Hannah (Propagandhi), Paul Rousseau (Burst & Bloom), Jimmy Stadt (Polar Bear Club), Daniel Tremblay (I Am Committing A Sin), Mike Hranica (The Devil Wears Prada), and Nick Diener (The Swellers). Liam Cormier (Cancer Bats) guests on The Swarm’s “xOn Our Kneesx”.
